A note from Jen Garrido, the founder, owner & fine artist behind Jenny Pennywood

When I chose the pseudonym Jenny Pennywood as my alter art ego name, I did so because Jen Garrido, my real name, was & has always been reserved for someone or something else. Yes, I am Jenny Pennywood, I am an artist and painter first.

I've spent many years reserving my name, Jen Garrido, just for her, but like my fine art, every Jenny Pennywood textile design begins with me, Jen Garrido, in the studio, with a paintbrush in hand. Colorways are always born from color studies & each pattern begins with brushstrokes on paper.

I am practicing allowing these two parts of me to exist together and my beloved Jenny Pennywood Community, I am offering 21 original works on paper, a body of work pulled from my 2019 studio archive. The pieces have a naive hopeful quality and a movement I remember so well from 2019. They also are inspirations to imagine new textile colorways & to visualize colorways as a singular palette, painted just before our world shifted into lockdown.
