PROCESS

Every Foldie Tote begins in the studio, where Jen Garrido’s hand-painted patterns and playful colors come to life on paper. Once the design is finalized, it’s printed onto sturdy 100% nylon fabric and sewn into a practical, reusable tote produced in small-batch overseas production, with care and intention.

CARE

Spot clean as needed, or machine wash cold & air dry. Do not iron, steam, or heat dry (high heat is not recommended for nylon).

Behind the Scenes

Pennywood Patterns

Jenny Pennywood patterns are rooted in Jen Garrido’s fine art practice, shaped by years of exploring and working with color, rhythm, and form. These are not digital-first designs, each one begins by hand as a painting or drawing in the studio. The artwork is then translated into repeatable forms that become the visual foundation for textiles, accessories, and patterned basics. Every pattern is uniquely playful and down to co-mingle.

Jen Garrido

Meet the Maker

Jenny Pennywood is the alter ego of fine artist Jen Garrido, a painter and designer based in San Francisco. What began as a creative sidestep has grown into a bold, pattern-forward world of textiles, accessories, and artwork.

Working Definition

patterned basics

patterned basics (noun)

  1. Everyday essentials, such as tee shirts, underwear, and socks, reimagined through color and pattern; functional pieces designed to be worn regularly while carrying visual presence and personality.
  2. In the context of Jenny Pennywood: garments rooted in original artwork, translated into textiles and produced in small, intentional runs; objects that balance utility and expression, meant to be lived in rather than kept precious.

PATTERN DESIGN

Triangles

The very first Jenny Pennywood pattern. It started with a rubber stamp I carved, scanned, and arranged on the computer. Initially an experiment, now a signature.

Everyday, not throwaway

Our philosophy is fewer, longer lasting, timeless, and quality things, which is exactly what we make.

Color: More is merrier

Colorways and patterns are meant to mix and mingle in a way that compliments without clashing

SIGNATURE TEXTILES + FABRICS

Woven from natural fibers, our textiles are made to last and like vintage denim, they just get better with age.

HAND-PAINTED PATTERN DESIGN

Each pattern is hand-drawn or painted by Jen Garrido in the studio and printed on natural, thoughtfully sourced textiles.
